Honeoye Falls Village Board 2026-06-15

The evening of 2026-06-15 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

The meeting started off with Rick (Mayor) welcoming all of the guests. Which was a joke, as there was no one in the audience (besides me). I suspect this was a nod towards the Zoning Board non-meeting two weeks ago. Which had to be rescheduled due to the number of people there.

On that note, if you’ve missed the rescheduled date: Zoning Board will be meeting 6/22 7PM High School Auditorium, to discuss potential future medical office at 20 North Main.

It was said security will be present. Which I can understand, from an abundance of caution point of view. But if there is a serious belief such would be needed, we have bigger problems than an urgent care. Also should be broadcast over Zoom, although I heard no comments through that platform. Which has me thinking a video platform (YouTube, Vimeo, Rumble, etc) would be a better choice. As none of them have the same implications of real-time commenting like Zoom has. Regardless, any form of streaming is better then no streaming. Which, by my counts, means Rick is two for two on the items he said he would look into. Documents are available on the Village website, and streaming is planned.

Matt (Legal Counsel) was hired, sort of. It’s the same guy, for the same position he has been doing. But he is no longer with the same firm, this is for him on his own. As I understand it, this is because he left that firm, for a different position. But both he and the Village want to continue this professional relationship. Can’t say I blame them.

A report on the Deer Abatement Program was read, and will likely be posted online soon. Sounds like they killed 30 deer last year. While it might not be pretty, this kind of program keeps an otherwise pleasant part of the local wildlife from becoming a pest. Or put differently, a single chipmunk at your picnic is cute and amusing. 1000 is a problem.

The Good Vibes summer music is starting off tomorrow. So if you notice music while you are out enjoying a Tuesday evening? Well now you know where it’s coming from. Swing by Harry Allen Park and enjoy the show. Although you probably won’t see me, as I’m usually elsewhere.

Just like at the Town‘s meeting last week, the Ambulance contract was discussed. While the details of two different people offering there thoughts on the same topic can be interesting, the broad strokes were substantially the same. Details of the contract being looked at, and a second crew test being explored.

805 people have already signed up to the Village’s usage of TextMyGov. I am all in favor of effective communication methods, and exploring new ones to see if they would be helpful. But I find the informational popup on the website claims more screen space then is ideal. I can work around it, but it does make it harder to read certain things. Such as…

The Village has a survey out on the Fire Department. By the sounds of it, respondent information will help towards FEMA grants. So you can help out by taking the survey. Which has a June 26 deadline. I’ll be taking the survey as soon as I post this, before I can forget about it. Again.

Concerns around E-Bikes were discussed. In particular, how unsafe usage combines with their near silence in setting the stage for accidents. While there are no firm plans for action, the Village is considering a local law/code change to do… something. Even as it was said parents are a better solution. But when all you have is a hammer.

A fireworks display is scheduled for 8/14, to celebrate our nations 250th birthday. NOT the fourth of July, as such things traditionally are. I believe the idea was to spread out the celebration. Which makes sense. When I’m 250 years old, I’d like to celebrate on more then just one day. Why should the nation be any different.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the June 15, 2026 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
