The agenda items were dealt with in a surprisingly quick and efficient manner. To such an extent it was commented upon at the eventual end of the meeting. The non-agenda items, on the other hand, were entertaining in their time consuming tangents. Continue reading
Today (2017-05-29) was another Memorial Day. As happens here, there was a parade from (approximately) the high school to the cemetery. We get the horses, groups on foot (veterans, scouts, band, etc), groups in vehicles (fire, ambulance, motorcycles, etc). Continue reading
Tonight (2017-05-23) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
Gene (Superintendent) managed to have his Report take up the largest portion of the meeting, while he personally spoke the least. He managed this by nesting two other reports inside his own. Interesting way to organize a meeting, but it worked. Continue reading

Tonight (2017-05-15) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
Interesting meeting tonight, from a time usage vs agenda item point of view. The reports from departments took the bulk of the time, while the agenda items (minus the last) were relatively short. Usually it’s the other way around, relatively short reports followed by longer old and new business.
Ironically enough, the clerk’s computer started the meeting by deciding it was time to do updates. To her credit, she pulled out paper and continue on. Continue reading
Tonight (2017-05-09) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
Tonight was the first night the BoE was completely using a new tool for it’s packet. Side effect of this is that the public can read most of the information the board gets before the meeting (minus any executive session information). While it’s too soon for me to form a real opinion on the details, the idea of getting the information out earlier is one I am in favor of. Nothing like having a well educated public to offer feedback during ‘public comment’ time. Mind you, I’m probably the only one that cares. Continue reading
Tonight (2017-05-08) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
There were a surprising number of people present. Normally it’s the handful of regulars, and the occasional extra for a particular purpose. Not tonight. Tonight there were about a dozen people to speak on behalf of the ambulance service. Continue reading
As with most years, this years school vote is in three parts. There will be a budget for next year, purchase of school buses, and three positions on the school board. The vote itself will be happening Tuesday May 16th, 2017 in the High School Lobby.
