Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education 2026-07-07

The evening of 2026-07-07 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).

At the core, this was a reorganizational meeting. Which means, if done well, there is little of note. It was done well, I have only a few things to say.

For the new school year, there was new assigned seating. Mostly doesn’t matter, as it’s mostly the same people. Although I do keep waiting for one of these boards to ignore the assigned seating.

Lynley was elected Board President, and Carol as Vice President (as expected). It took Lynley a few motions to get her feet under her. But by the end, she had the pattern down. Some degree of a learning curve is to be expected. And that may be a side benefit to this kind of meeting, good opportunity to get into the habit. In any case, good job on Lynley’s part.

Many items were consolidated together for each motion, which makes the process more efficient. But the associations membership vote got split out and addressed separately. In the end both were still approved. As was pointed out, it’s worth having the discussion on if NYSSBA is worth being a member. Because sometimes the answer has been ‘no’.

As Gene (Superintendent) mentioned, it’s construction season. Taking advantage of most of the kids being out of the buildings to get as much work done as they can. The monthly construction report shared expected finish dates, which is just before the kids come back in the Fall.

And as an aside, since I include links to it, I noticed the schools website is being renovated too. Which makes sense for summer. Much like the buildings, likely to get less usage this time of year.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the July 07, 2026 meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education.

Agenda’s and similar information can be found at HFL’s BoardDocs page. While a recording is also available.
