The evening of 2026-07-20 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
There were a number of presentations at the start of the meeting. Lucy Thompsett presented her Eagle Scout Project for benches at the community garden, to replace the existing old one. Cody Donahue was sick, so Rick (Mayor) gave a summary of his e-bike concerns. Stan Worboys gave a summary of the Deer Management program and it’s ~6 year history.
For those of you interested in construction plans in the Village, tomorrow (7/21) the Zoning Board is having a special meeting to hear plans for the ‘180 acre parcel adjacent to Quaker Meeting House Rd‘ (named Copperfield?). On 8/3 (regular meeting date) the Zoning Board will be discussing the urgent care, and it is expected they will close the Public Hearing at that meeting. Related, on 7/27 the Town Board will be having a special meeting for their part of the urgent care (driveway, parking, etc).
As an aside, there was a comment about going through the process for projects like this. I agree, process is important. But at the same time, process shouldn’t be used as a method to force actions that should otherwise fail. Not that I think that is the case here. But this seems like a good opportunity to point out we shouldn’t blindly trust ‘process’ above all. Blindly trusting anything should only be done after careful consideration. At which point, arguably, the trust is no longer blind. But I digress.
An engineer is being hired to look over the Scout House, reviewing the structural situation. So as to provide information to best evaluate future maintenance plans. Prudent enough. No point sinking alot of money into one aspect, only to find out it’s a waste due to something else.
A grant for ~$8 million was accepted for the Waste Water Treatment Project. Is unclear to me if this is another grant, or one of the ones previously discussed. Either way, ~$8 million will take a good chunk out of the cost.
The ~$13k bill for Summer Recreation came due, payment for which was happily approved. The Board shared their satisfaction with this program and how it is managed.
