Tonight (2017-07-10) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Planning Board.
The meeting was relatively long, both in number of items on the agenda (7) and time taken (~2 hours). Two items caused most of the discussion, the rest were pretty straightforward. The quick ones were all approved, longer ones were deferred to future meetings. Despite how that sounds, I don’t think there was a pattern. Continue reading
Tonight (2017-06-27) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
Unfortunately, Gene (Superintendent) was out sick tonight. I don’t know exactly what is going on, and if I did it’s not really my place to announce it. He’ll share details if/when he wants. Until then I can but pray he recovers from whatever is troubling him. Continue reading
Tonight (2017-06-26) was a special meeting of the Mendon Town Board. There was also a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.
As the Town opted to hold a ‘special’ meeting, I attended two meetings tonight. Or at least parts of two meetings, as I left before the Town finished. They started at 7, whereas the Village Zoning started at 7:30. Continue reading

It was unusually long for this group. Not really a surprise, as there was a presentation and two public hearings on (somewhat) controversial issues. Plus all the regular items of discussion. Continue reading
Tonight (2017-06-13) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
There was an irate mother at the meeting, to complain about how the school had handled some incident. Details were sketchy, but from pieces mentioned I suspect one of her children was bullied while on the school bus. To the board’s credit, they did try to help her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to satisfy her. While I’m not a mother, the desire to protect your children is understandable. Unfortunate that this issue occurred, but fortunately this sort of thing does not happen often. Or if it does it’s kept quiet, which is a whole other sort of problem… Continue reading
Tonight (2017-06-12) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
There was a surprisingly large crowd tonight, with no obvious reason. A few of the people commented at various times, but most of them just observed. I speculate that two of them were candidates for the Town Board at the upcoming election. If so, good on them for showing up. If not, wouldn’t be the first (or last) time I’ve been wrong. Tonight (2017-06-05) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Planning Board.
The agenda items were dealt with in a surprisingly quick and efficient manner. To such an extent it was commented upon at the eventual end of the meeting. The non-agenda items, on the other hand, were entertaining in their time consuming tangents. Continue reading
Today (2017-05-29) was another Memorial Day. As happens here, there was a parade from (approximately) the high school to the cemetery. We get the horses, groups on foot (veterans, scouts, band, etc), groups in vehicles (fire, ambulance, motorcycles, etc). Continue reading
