Tonight (2018-04-02) was the Honeoye Falls Annual Meeting.
As usual, about half an hour before the Annual Meeting, was the public hearing for next years Village budget. Total budget looks to be just over $2 million for the Village proper, and about $500 thousand for the sewer. Tax rate will go from $2.15 to $2.20 (per thousand). Continue reading
Tonight (2018-03-27) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
Despite the room being packed, Donna and I were the only ones not there at the behest of the School. Plenty of school staff, and a few invited guests, all there for the Mental Health Workshop. Donna was there in her role as a journalist. Continue reading
Tonight (2018-03-19) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
As was brought up at the meeting, tomorrow is the first day of spring. So we can expect flowers to start blooming at any moment. Or at least bugs flying through through the air. Hopefully more of the first, and less of the second. At least while inside, at meetings. Even if some of the reactions can be amusing. Continue reading
Tonight (2018-03-13) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
Full disclosure: I sit on the Public Budget Advisory Council. And tonight the PBAC gave it’s budget recommendation to the BoE. It was a group project, and I believe it adequately does it’s required job. Namely, helps get the district through one more year. Maybe I’ve become jaded over the years, but I’m not thrilled with the outcome. Doesn’t really do anything about the larger, long term, challenges the district is facing. But those are also outside of the committee’s charge, hence the ‘adequately’. Continue reading

Tonight (2018-03-05) was a Mendon Public Library Board of Trustee meeting.
Again no Planning Board, so I was able to Observe the Library Trustees instead. Not complaining, I am enjoying the opportunity get a ‘feel’ for how this Board works. Continue reading
Tonight (2018-02-28) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Steering Committee (or something like that).
As this was a workshop/committee meeting, it wasn’t announced through the normal channels. But by paying attention at public meetings I knew when/where it would happen. And as expected, when I showed up and sat quietly in a corner, no one asked me to leave. Continue reading

Tonight (2018-02-20) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
Amusingly enough, there was a sign on the Village Office door today (and yesterday) indicating the meeting had been ‘rescheduled’ for tonight. Amusing because I remember when they approved this years meeting schedule and how this meeting (and last months) were deliberately set to be on Tuesdays instead of Mondays. Continue reading
