Tonight (2018-05-07) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Planning Board.
A number of Board members commented on how long it had been since they have seen each other. Last meeting was back in February, as nothing has come before this Board since. While three months isn’t the longest of times, it is nice to catch up after a time apart. Continue reading
As with most years, this years school vote is in three parts. There will be a budget for next year, purchase of school buses, and three positions on the school board. The vote itself will be happening Tuesday May 15, 2018 in the High School Lobby.

Tonight (2018-05-01) was the Public Budget Hearing and Meet the Candidates event for the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District.

Tonight (2018-04-24) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
The budget public hearing will be next week, May 1st, at 7PM. Sounds like it will be in the High School Chorus room, which is different. Previously it has been in the High School Cafeteria or the normal Board of Education room, I wonder why the change. Two weeks after that, May 15th, will be the actual Budget vote. 6AM to 9PM, in the High School Foyer (outside the pool). While you can vote as early as 6AM, John will be there to make sure you don’t vote often. Continue reading

It was the meeting of the David’s. David the student representative shared the latest happenings at HFL. David the (former?) skate boarder shared his plans on fund raising upgrades to the skate park, for the benefit of his son. Tonight (2018-04-11) was an Opioid Epidemic Forum. Although it did feel more like a presentation, bordering on propaganda.
Before I go on, I should point out that I am of the ‘say no to drugs‘ philosophy. At times, the medical utility may temporarily outweigh the inherent drawbacks, but it’s not a case of ‘some drugs are sometimes bad, and other are sometimes good’. All drugs are always bad. Tonight (2018-04-10) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
The board approved a budget to send to the voters, after a short presentation on the topic. May 15th the residents will decide on whether to go with this proposal or not. Of note, the tax cap is NOT being exceeded, so a simple majority is all that is needed to pass the budget. Continue reading
Tonight (2018-04-09) was a Mendon Public Library Board of Trustee meeting.
Ironically enough, what struck me as the most controversial issue of the night was the discussion about discussing. Or to put it in a little more detail: the library talked about asking someone to make a call, to tell someone to make another call, to ask someone to do their job. All of this so that the library can actually start the construction on a project that was supposed to have finished last year. Never let it be said that bureaucracies are quick. Continue reading
Tonight (2018-04-02) was the Honeoye Falls Annual Meeting.
As usual, about half an hour before the Annual Meeting, was the public hearing for next years Village budget. Total budget looks to be just over $2 million for the Village proper, and about $500 thousand for the sewer. Tax rate will go from $2.15 to $2.20 (per thousand). Continue reading

Despite the room being packed, Donna and I were the only ones not there at the behest of the School. Plenty of school staff, and a few invited guests, all there for the Mental Health Workshop. Donna was there in her role as a journalist. Continue reading
