The meeting was a bit of a surprise. Last week was a holiday, so I guess I should have expected it. Worked out because the Town Board moved their meeting to next week. Of course, that means I have two meetings at the same time then, but that’s a problem for another day. Continue reading
Tonight (2019-08-27) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
As has become my habit the last few months, I show up early for these meetings and wander the construction site the school has become. It has been interesting watching things change week by week. This week I noticed the old cougar mural in the cafeteria is gone. Or mostly gone, the top foot or two is still around. The rest, well the wall it used to be on no longer exists. I did ask, and high quality pictures were taken before any demolition was done. So options are available, from the simple of sharing the picture to the more complex of repainting another wall to match. Continue reading
Tonight (2019-08-19) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
Much like last week’s Town Board meeting, retirement was a significant topic. In particular, Mike Tobin is resigning as Village Attorney. For legal reasons, a replacement wasn’t appointed tonight, but they know who they want. Looks like there needs to be a public hearing first, which was set for next month, and I would expect the official appointment to follow. Continue reading

Tonight (2019-07-15) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
For those interested, the tax cap override was approved. Which does nothing directly to the tax cap, tax rate, or tax levy. This just means that when budget time rolls around again, there are more options on the table. Presumably, this ‘override’ would be repealed in April, directly before passing a budget, as has happened in previous years. Continue reading

Tonight (2019-07-01) was a Mendon Public Library Board of Trustee meeting.
While the this group meets every month, I don’t get to many of their meetings. Which makes it somewhat ironic that at the last meeting I was at they were trying to get a construction project started, and at this meeting they are confirming that it’s finished. While the actual construction is done, they had to finalize some paperwork before actually closing out the project. Continue reading
