Tonight (2017-11-27) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.
It started oddly, with the majority of the board holding a private conference with the village attorney and the code enforcement officer. I’m sure there was a good explanation, but meetings behind closed doors can look bad.
The only application before the board was a request to allow three apartment units upstairs in the former Oppedisano’s Bootery building. After discussion, taking action was tabled for next month.
The primary concern appeared to be parking spaces, but there was also talk about door locations and pedestrian access. Oddly enough, it was Mike (Village Attorney) that brought up these issues. I would have expected Charlie (Code Enforcement Officer) to bring up code issues. A bit of a role reversal tonight.
After the decision to table was made, there was talk about procedures. Having seen various issues at other meetings, it looks like the Village is aware of a weakness here. Which is good, awareness of a flaw is a needed step towards fixing it.
Due to Christmas, next meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday December 28, not the 25 as would be the normal pattern. While I understand the date change, it likely means I won’t be able to attend. Funny that I look to have Christmas evening open, but not the Thursday after.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the November 27, 2017 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.
