Honeoye Falls Village Board 2025-05-19

The evening of 2025-05-19 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

The first chunk of the meeting was Melissa Wendland from Common Ground Health presenting on people getting older. In particular, how our community is above the average trend here. And how, ‘everything is ok, until it isn’t’. So her group is working to find ways to extend ‘isn’t’ out as far as they can. While the idea sounds nice enough, she acknowledged the real challenge is finances. Who pays for it? And that is always an important detail. As the saying goes, we have infinite wants but only finite resources.

The Village Zoning code was changed to minimize where cannabis can be sold. They can’t say no entirely, due to past decisions. But they can limit it to the commercial region on West Main.

The Village will be applying to it’s own Zoning Board for a re-subdivision. Having surveyed the old Critics property, they now have to go through the process to have the lot lines changed. Probably too late to get on the agenda for the ZBA’s 6/2 meeting. Which would mean 7/7, most likely. Check with the Village’s website as those dates approach, hopefully they will share the agenda.

The playground at Rotary Park is being close, likely all summer. While the bureaucratic portion of having it fixed is being expedited, it will still take time to do the work itself.

Demolition in Harry Allen Park will start 6/2. With the rest of the work to follow. No exact dates were said for finish time, but it sounds like we should assume this park is closed for the summer.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the May 19, 2025 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Link to agenda on Village website. In case you didn’t notice, that’s a .gov address. The Village recently moved domains. But don’t worry, the old .org address should seamlessly redirect.
