The evening of 2024-03-04 was a meeting of the Mendon Public Library Board of Trustees.
The most significant part of the meeting was likely hearing the Village intends to keep the grassy area in front of the library as a grassy area. Yes, intents don’t always align with eventual results, but having it said is good all the same.
There was an amusing bit with a new policy. Not the policy itself, that almost didn’t matter. But the back and forth about the proper process to add new policies. Not adjust existing ones, they seem to have that down. But the creation of something entirely new. In the end, I think they decided to send this back to the policy committee. Although I think any of the discussed outcomes would have been fine, it was the discussion itself I found amusing.
And one of the Librarians, Alice, is retiring at the end of the month. As always, it’s a shame to lose staff like this. But at the same time, life happens and this outcome is inevitable.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the March 04, 2024 meeting of the Mendon Public Library Board of Trustees.
