The evening of 2022-12-28 was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
The primary purpose of tonight’s meeting was to wrap up things before the end of the year. Which seems to be more bookkeeping motivated then anything else. And as they were meeting anyways, other things joined the agenda.
There was a budget transfer of over a million dollars. Apparently this was planned, and how the splash park would be paid for. Still, was a surprisingly large amount to see, at least from my point of view.
Accordingly, ~$250k of the ~$300k in vouchers went to the splash park. It sounds like there is still at least one more payment coming at some point in the future. And in the interests of full disclosure, once again a minuscule portion of the voucher total went to me, as I continue to do work for the Town.
Proposals for replacing two of the Town’s furnaces are being requested. No commitment to actually doing the replacement, as they are working fine at the moment. But they are also over twenty years old, and the maintenance technician suggests at least looking into it. Which led to a short discussion around how replacing furnaces at homes had led to lower costs, due to increased efficiency. Ironic how sometimes spending money ends up saving money, in the long run.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the December 28, 2022 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
