The evening of 2022-11-21 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
A number of upcoming holiday events were mentioned. The only date I caught (probably because it was mentioned multiple times) was December 10 for the Fireman’s parade. Must mean we are getting into holiday season, with another event around every corner.
There was an interesting tangent on when it’s appropriate to use Zoom (or similar) to remote into a meeting, in contrast to when Board members should be there in person. Felt like an indirect followup on a previous public hearing. Outcome was a decision to document acceptable usage here. While I felt everyone more or less agreed, it’s prudent to write it down, so as to minimize confusion in the future.
New members of the Ambulance and Fire Department were approved. Not a rare occurrence, but worth mentioning as it’s always good to have people willing to step up to help others.
The Deer Management process continues, this time as a request being sent to DEC for approval to hunt off season. A report was produced explaining the details of the plan and why the Village feels it is necessary. The comment was made that there has been no resistance from residence this time, unlike when this same topic came up ~20 years ago. Shows that when a problem gets bad enough, demand for solutions grow as well.
Troop 10 received approval for Christmas Tree sales in the park, as they have for many years. Which is good as they were preparing the sales location before the meeting. I find it amusing when theses sort of timing technicalities happen. Of course they were going to get approval, as they have for many a year. And if for some reason they wouldn’t, they likely would have been told beforehand. Still, action was taken before approval. Amusing, and in this case, harmless. If nothing else, it highlights how we mustn’t let process control us.
Use of the park for the Living Nativity was also approved. Again, as it has been for many years. Now we just need to find someone to take point position for the event. Eh, as our money says, In God We Trust. He’ll provide if that’s the plan. Either way, prepare and plan to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the November 21, 2022 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
