Mendon Town Board 2021-02-08

Tonight (2021-02-08) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

In what will likely become the ‘new normal’, this meeting was streamed online. In addition to being open to anyone that wanted to show up in person. As I was providing support for this stream, I wasn’t exactly in the audience. Having said that…

The Comprehensive Plan Update, and it’s attached public hearing and resolutions, felt like the largest portion of the meeting. I expect the approved final version will be made available before too long, but for now the draft is available on the Town’s website.

One thing that stood out to me here was that the SEQR was pre-drafted. The Board just had to look it over and approve. Seems like an efficient way to manage this requirement.

The other large discussion was on the Ambulance agreement with the Village. Mostly this was a report from discussions with the Village of Honeoye Falls (although it sounds like Lima and West Bloomfield were also involved). Bottom line, the Town is trying to simplify how payments are calculated. Or at least their portion of the process. As was emphasized at the meeting, no one was questioning the quality of the service that is provided. Only good things were said about that. The discussion was around the financial side of things.

As this discussion has been going on for at least as long as I have been observing these meetings, I do not expect any sort of conclusion to be reached anytime soon. Which I think makes sense. So long as the service is being provided there will always be details to discuss.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the February 08, 2021 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

Link to agenda on Town website. And with the website changes, it’s not likely to disappear when they add the next one.
