Mendon Town Board 2019-04-08

Tonight (2019-04-08) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

In many ways this was a standard meeting. Relatively short, more or less straightforward. Having said that, there were a few interesting tidbits.

The comprehensive plan workshop was discussed, and the group was generally happy with both turnout and feedback. While the committee will be meeting before then, the next request for public input looks to be September 17, 7PM, at the Community Center/Legion Hall. Discussion on that led to a tangent about how all committee meetings are open to the public, but not all request comments from the public.

Avon Ambulance closed recently, apparently for financial reasons. I’ll probably hear more on this at the Village meeting next week, as they directly manage the local ambulance. For a variety of reasons, healthcare is difficulty and expensive, as this closing shows.

Renovations at the library are underway (as anyone visiting will be able to tell), and should be finishing up soon (next week was the guess). The odd tension between the Town and the Library showed itself in the discussion tonight. It’s a shame when you know everyone involved is trying to act in the public’s best interests, yet there is clearly tension with how they interact with each other. I have to assume someone knows enough history so that they could explain why this tension is here. I just note it’s existence but could only wildly speculate as to it’s original source. Although, at some point, grudges can become self-sustaining.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the April 08, 2019 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

Link to agenda on Town website until they update it, losing the past.
