Honeoye Falls Village Board 2026-02-17

The evening of 2026-02-17 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Once again a meeting that was off the regular pattern. But it was adequately announced. So besides noting the off pattern pattern, I have no comment.

The usual Tax Cap Override local law was approved tonight, after the Public Hearing. All part of the dance to maximize options during the budget process. While I don’t have hard numbers, my sense is this is usually repealed and the budget doesn’t end up exceeding the cap. I asked at the meeting, and got the same response. Namely, no hard numbers, but a feeling it’s usually repealed.

If I heard the numbers right, we’re at ~$12 million in grants for the ~$18 million sewer project. Not there yet. But work is continuing, and more grants are being explored. Was an interesting discussion about how best to use the system, how to maximize odds of receiving more grants. I’d summarize it as ‘keep trying’. Submit the grant request every year, until the money comes in.

There may be a Job Fair on 5/16 from 10AM-2PM at the ambulance base. Or not. That was the tentative plan, certain details need to be ironed out. If the idea interests you, I’d suggest checking the Village’s website as that date gets nearer. Or could just gamble showing up. There are worse ways to spend a Saturday morning then going for a walk.

The fire department roof is not leaking. Only of note as this means the recent construction project did it’s job.

Construction start times was briefly discussed, but they are still in a holding pattern here. Unfortunately : (

MJ Dispensary is planning their grand opening sometime in March. This is where I would normally suggest going to visit. Welcome the new business to the area. Find out more about what they do. Maybe even spend some money. That sort of thing. But in this case… Well it’s there if that interests you.

The Library is looking ahead, planning for their Summer Reading Program. In particular, reserving usage of the parks. While these events are mostly targeted at children, nothing is stopping you from taking a look. It’s in a book.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the February 17, 2026 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
