Honeoye Falls Village Board 2025-10-20

The evening of 2025-10-20 was also a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Alas, I was at the Town meeting and still haven’t figured out how to be in two places at the same time. Thankfully, the Village recorded their meeting. Having watched that…

There was a presentation from the Fire Department about purchasing a new truck. Sounds like the estimated arrival date would be mid 2028, and the cost ~$1 million. There was also discussion around selling existing truck(s) to help fund the new truck. While there is no bill today, the Village is continuing towards making this purchase.

A member of the public (whose name I didn’t catch) made a comment about construction noise from Wolfsberger park. Appears to be a case of the Code as written and practices don’t line up exactly. Construction is starting earlier in the day then the Code would permit. By the sounds of it, there will be a Code change in the near future, to correct this. Which I think is good.

Regardless of which way things change here, anytime the rules and the practices are out of alignment it opens up government to criticism of two tiered systems. Where the ‘special’ people (however that is defined) are treated differently then the rest of us. Not a good thing in a nation that is supposed to work for ‘we, the people‘. Hence glad this is being addressed.

The local Museum is scheduled to have an open house event on 11/2 at 2PM. Could be nice to stop by that Sunday afternoon.

While reporting on interactions with the local business group, it was mentioned how difficult it is to find employees. So any of you looking for work, or at least more income? The opportunities are out there.

Last month the Town discussed the ambulance and fire contracts. This month the Village discussed their side of that contract. I find it interesting to hear different groups discuss the same topic, from their different points of view. I get the impression a joint meeting on this topic might be happening before too long.

The Fire Department’s annual Christmas parade was approved for December 13 at 6:30PM. While there are still details and planning to be finalized, at least they know the event can proceed.

It was stated this is not a political event. Even as the question was raised about what is political. I’m of the opinion, that so long as the Fire Department accepts taxpayer funds, they are a governmental entity. And as such, their actions are inherently political. Which makes this parade a political event. Despite any claims to the contrary.

To be clear, that is not a criticism. Politics is a natural outgrowth of human interaction. Hopefully we can be non-partisan here. Or if we are, the faction we support is the Fire Department. After all, I don’t want my possessions to burn. And I suspect you don’t want yours too either.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land (such as they are) for the October 20, 2025 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
