The evening of 2025-10-14 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).
Time again for the meeting to take place at the Lima building. Fitting with the location, there was a presentation for how things are going at Lima. Overall, sounded like it was going well. Which is both what I would expect and want. Having said that, it was said that there has been an increase in challenges with student behavior. Both form a quantity and severity standpoint.
Similarly, there was a presentation on the plethora of Professional Development that has been offered. Along with some measurable benefits. With a stated cost of ~$160k, which is down from what was spent on this last year. It sounds like in the future they are looking to leverage all this expertise and have more staff training staff.
Slowly moving into budget season. Which meant tonight looking over Budget Goals, Assumptions and Guidelines. While it was explicitly said the sky was NOT falling, a comparison to 2008 was made. The expectation is it will be a challenging budget year.
On a happier note, it was School Board Appreciation night. There was an entertaining video that started off with cheerleaders, before showing students and staff around the campus. And, as tends to happen for this, cupcakes were available.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the October 14, 2025 meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education.
Agenda’s and similar information can be found at HFL’s BoardDocs page. While a recording is also available.
