Mendon Town Board 2025-09-08

The evening of 2025-09-08 was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

2026 Tentative Budget was presented. While there is still time for adjustments and such, this plan has the tax rate for next year remain flat. We’ll see how that plays out over the next few months.

The Town adopted three resolutions around Climate Smart Communities. At the core, this seems to be the State using potential grant dollars to manipulate local municipalities. In turn, the apparent support could then be used to claim the public supports whatever environmental actions Albany wants to push. Or maybe I’m being too cynical.

Part of the first resolution referenced greenhouse gases. Greenhouses tend to be packed with plants, and more plants seems to be a good thing (from an environmental standpoint). Yet greenhouse gases sure are frowned upon. Which is just one reason I think this isn’t actually a climate issue. I suspect it’s cover for a death cult, even as I do like to be wrong.

The agreements with the Village about Fire and Ambulance service were discussed. Once again, how to divide the bill has come up. To summarize the discussion by putting words in their mouths: The Town is happy to pay their fair share, they just don’t think the current contract is that.

One tidbit about wanting call numbers came up. Which I found interesting, as most months Ed (Chief) gives the Village those numbers during their Board meeting. While it would technically be more work for him, as he already has the numbers it shouldn’t be that hard to email them to interested parties (both Boards, their clerks, etc). More communication might help alleviate concerns.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the September 08, 2025 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
