Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education 2025-03-11

The evening of 2025-03-11 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education (BoE).

The vacant Board seat was filled by David Youngblut. While I don’t know who all applied for the vacancy (Full disclosure: I was one of them), I think this is a good choice. And even if it isn’t, in about two months we get to vote anyways.

While he was clearly speaking to the new Board member, Gene (Superintendent) gave a nice overview of the Board’s role. For anyone that is curious about that.

After that was the PBAC report to the Board. As I lived this process (Full disclosure: I was on the PBAC) there wasn’t anything surprising or of note to me. By all means, read the report and/or watch the video if that interests you. Or wait for the budget vote on May 20.

And time for another Capitol Project update. As usual, I like the pictures at the end. But there was also an interesting tidbit about there now being 4 elevators/lifts in the High School. And apparently there is asbestos underneath the High School auditorium, so abatement will have to be done. Scheduled for during April break.

The previously approved computer purchase was back again, having an updated price. Sounds like tariffs pushed up the price ~$40k. I find it interesting how often federal level issues are discussed at the local level.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the March 11, 2025 meeting of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education.

Agenda’s and similar information can be found at HFL’s BoardDocs page. While a recording is also available.
