The evening of 2024-04-02 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.
The applicant of the evening got approval for the horse barn they wanted to build. Which didn’t surprise me in the least. While the property is technically in the Village, from a practical standpoint it’s one of those Cheese Factory properties that might as well be outside it. Besides that, assuming I read the map right, it’s so far back from the road it might as well be invisible.
After that was some discussion about a previous chicken coop and bee hive application. No action here, merely the Board being curious about the code enforcement side of things. Dave (CEO) went over the steps he’s taken to explain to the property owner how they are not in compliance with the code. And how that will end up in court with a fine. If I heard right, that would be a $250/day fine. Which had me thinking, if the property owner wanted to keep his chickens and bees that badly, I’m sure the Village would be happy with the ~$90k ($250 x 365) in additional yearly revenue.
In local gossip, a number of people had rave reviews about ‘Ars Treasure Chest‘. Which is the new shop on the Ontario side of the East and Ontario corner. I heard ‘Amazon pallet’ and ‘consignment shop’ as descriptions. I guess that means a little bit of everything? Either way, I might have to stop by sometime and see if anything grabs my fancy.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t point out this group normally meets on Monday, but it was decided not to meet last night due to the Annual Meeting. While I can’t fault them for that decision, I prefer sticking to pattern. But it seemed to work out well enough tonight.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the April 02, 2024 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.
