Honeoye Falls Village Board 2024-04-15

The evening of 2024-04-15 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Another Eagle Scout project presented, seems like we just had one. In this case, he wants to add lines for various sports to the court at Rotary park. Maybe some benches too, although that part sounded less certain. Always details to iron out.

The bid was accepted for the upcoming sidewalk project on West Main street. Sounded like it will be from Episcopal to Norton, on the Post Office side of the road. As this was the bid, actual construction is likely a ways down the road. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be the first time approval led to immediate action. But if that applied here, I would have expected it to be mentioned in the discussion.

The Village is outsourcing it’s payroll and such. Which I find interesting as the Town is doing something similar. More that they are both doing it at roughly the same time then anything else. Is this a coincidence, or pointing to a larger trend?

The HFL Robotics team is looking to use upstairs space in Village Hall, for practice space and similar. The need for this came up at a Board of Education meeting a few months back. I don’t think this was exactly what was proposed then, but if feels like a better solution.

Engineers are being hired for a Roof Study of the Fire Station. The intent is to find out how much of a load the ‘bones’ of the building can take. Primarily to answer if the roof can be raised (which would have a cost), or if custom trucks need to be ordered (which would also have a cost). Either way, it appears some repairs are needed and I got the impression they expect roof raising to be cheaper long term. Regardless, ‘study’ phrase at this time, not yet construction.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the April 15, 2024 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Online copy of Agenda was not available anywhere I could find. Perhaps it will be on the Village’s website in the future, perhaps not…
