Honeoye Falls Zoning Board 2023-08-07

The evening of 2023-08-07 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.

The bulk of the discussion was a concept review from Mathstone. As a ‘concept review’, no decisions were made. Long story short, he wants to put in Townhouses between West Main and Norton’s Race.

The Board seemed in favor of the idea, but raised some questions about the implementation details. Parking, lot coverage, avoiding ‘spot’ zoning, etc. As those sorts of concerns were the goal of the discussion, I think everyone went away happy.

Ryan (Mathstone) did not state when he was looking to start construction on this project, but he did say it won’t be for a ‘while’. And it would be after the existing foundation on Norton street was dealt with. So not this year, and probably not next.

The other application was for the old GM plant on Carriage street. The new owners want to build an accessory structure for storage. It seemed to meet all the requirements, so approval felt more like a formality than anything else. And with the location, odds are no one will notice unless they deliberately go looking.

When that finished the Board discussed next months meeting. It sounds like they will be moving the meeting to Tuesday September 5th, in order to not meet on Labor day. As stated before, I’m a fan of sticking to patterns, and Labor Day doesn’t seem to rise to the level of needing to adjust. But it’s not my call to make. So long as the dates/times are available in advance, all is good. And a formal ‘Public Notice’ will likely be out in due time.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the August 7, 2023 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.

Online copy of Agenda was not available anywhere I could find. Perhaps it will be on the Village’s website in the future, perhaps not…
