The evening of 2023-07-24 was a meeting of the Mendon Public Library Board of Trustee meeting.
While other things were discussed, next years budget was the highlight of the meeting. The Mendon Public Library is budgeting ~$400k for 2024. As the Library is a department of the Town, this draft will still have to go through the Town’s side of the budget process. But this group finished their part, now it gets sent on for others to play with.
While the budget discussion covered a number of items, three stuck out to me as they were continuations from previous meetings. Namely planning to phase out the Mendon Meadows Book Drop, fines on late books, and Biel’s Storage of Microfilm. Of note, those are for next years budget, which won’t take effect until 1/1. No timeline was offered on rolling those changes out, but as year end is still a solid five months away, plenty of time. I’m sure there will be a more formal announcement on the first two, but probably not the microfilm.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the July 24, 2023 meeting of the Mendon Public Library Board of Trustees.
