The evening of 2023-04-10 was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
Most significant item of the evening was likely setting a special meeting for 7PM on April 24 at the Community Center for a pair of public hearings on Short Term Rentals. Each of the hearings covers a different local law, which cover different aspects of the topic. The Board heavily implied they would not be making any decision at that meeting, but would be looking for input from the public, so as to better inform their decision at a future meeting. I would speculate that decision would be made at the 5/8 meeting.
There was followup on the Fire Services Committee. I got the sense the Board didn’t want to rush into taking action here, but were in favor of continuing to explore the committee’s recommendation. Which is to say, they will be reaching out to the Village and Fire District to discuss how details of how to consolidate fire services. I would expect another committee to be formed to gather those details, and produce a plan to implement them. We’ll see.
Two additional public hearings were set for the 5/8 meeting, but those seemed more like technicalities to me. I wouldn’t expect much controversy there, but you are welcome to show up and comment. That is what public hearings are for.
Besides that, wasn’t much of note. A surprising number of items, but they felt pretty standard.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the April 10, 2023 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
