Honeoye Falls Zoning Board 2023-02-06

The evening of 2023-02-06 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.

Topic of the meeting was approving section 2A/2B for the Wolfsberger Park development. After some discussion approval was granted.

Interesting enough, the property owner called into the meeting. Not the first person to have done this, but it is rather rare. The engineer and builder were in the room, to better present and answer questions. Which makes a degree of sense. Even if the owner was there, the others would have done the bulk of the talking.

There was a question around drowning in the pond. While the question felt a bit silly to me, it does show the attention to detail. And apparently not the first time someone has asked this question, as there are guidelines for creating ponds. Relevant here is there being a shallow ‘bench’ out a ways from the shore. Can’t make drowning impossible, as that only takes an inch or two of water. But should provide plenty of space to get yourself up and out of the water. Unasked was ‘how did people survive without [insert safety feature]’. Yet our ancestors clearly managed well enough, as demonstrated by us being here.

Public Comment time kind of devolved into public discussion. No objection to this on my part. While the back and forth can take longer, it is more likely to lead to actual communication. Although the one gentleman did meander a bit when he spoke. Which illustrated yet again that we live in a small community, for both good and bad. In any case, I thought the conversation went well enough.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the February 6, 2023 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.
