The evening of 2022-08-29 was a special meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider a Moratorium on Short Term Rental. After, of course, hearing from the public and factoring in their comments. Accordingly, there were a decent number of people at the meeting, many of whom took the opportunity to comment.
I won’t go into all the comments, but I think Brent summarized them all quiet well. The Town Board thought they had produced a straightforward enough section of law, back when they put it in effect. Yet two different lawyers offered very different interpretations, neither of which appeared to match what the Town Board intended. In light of that, a half year time out for pondering (and presumably passing) clarifications seems prudent.
With that, it came as no surprise to me that the Town Board approved the Moratorium. Hopefully it will give them enough time to gather additional input and create better code.
