Tonight (2022-08-01) was a Mendon Public Library Board of Trustee meeting.
It was a nice quiet summer meeting, where the biggest topic was next years budget. Looks like they are planning to increase staff pay ~4.6%, to offset inflation. Nothing sure yet, as the Library isn’t a taxing authority, and their budget is a portion of the Town budget. As ever, the process continues.
The ‘Rules of Conduct‘ are being reviewed. The apparent goal is to make it more streamlined so that it is easier to share with patrons. For when certain people (who were not named) can’t behave themselves. A shame this is necessary, but unfortunately some people handle the brokenness that comes with being human better then others.
The library is looking for another clerk. Might be worth looking into if you have the spare time and books appeal. Or just want a little more income.
A ‘reading fort’ will be coming soon to the children’s area. Not sure what exactly that entails, but I’m interested in finding out. Forts are fun, as if having a good place to read.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the August 01, 2022 meeting of the Mendon Public Library Board of Trustees.
