Honeoye Falls Village Board 2022-08-15

The evening of 2022-08-15 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

The meeting started with discussion about the upcoming ‘Festival at the Falls‘. For those of you that didn’t know, that will be at Harry Allen Park from 9AM to 4PM this Saturday (8/20). Sounds like there are a few details to finalize, but overall they seemed pretty prepared for the event.

For those of you enjoying the ‘Good Vibes’ concerts, there are only a few left for this season. Enjoy them while you can, although I expect they will be back next year.

The Village is planning to purchase some speed monitor signs. Now, instead of having to ask the police for them, they will have their own. If only it helps cut pack on speeding…

The new Ambulance Supervisor was introduced, Lee Coller. Everyone seemed glad to have him on board. Although they tried to get his part of the meeting out of the way quickly, before he could be called away.

Which was a topic that came up in various ways: the Ambulance service is very busy. Fire Department too, but that seems less overwhelming. A situation was described where it took ~40 minutes to respond to a call, due to how resources were deployed for other calls. To some extent this is business as usual, they have been consistently busy and having challenges for a number of years. But at the same time, it sounds more extreme now. I lack the data and perspective to offer a meaningful analysis. But those in the trenches are expressing concerns.

The Village and the MCWA (Monroe County Water Authority?) are reaching a settlement on the Hyde Park mess. I believe I heard $190k for the final number, but could have misheard that (in between the other numbers mentioned). Regardless, it will be good to have that resolved.

And the Boy Scouts are planning some sort of rocket event on 9/17 at Rotary Park. Perhaps for the Space Exploration merit badge. Or perhaps because blowing stuff up is just fun. Not sure on details, but it sounds like they are having a campout that weekend.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the August 15, 2022 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Online copy of Agenda was not available anywhere I could find. Perhaps it will be on the Village’s website in the future, perhaps not…
