The budget was approved, and with it a 1.47% increase in the local levy. As this is below the property tax cap, the law allowing the Village to override that limit had to be repealed. All part of the standard budget dance at this point.
Also discussed were: Plans for sidewalk repairs, including ~$200k in grants. New flower baskets are being purchased, which should self-water the flowers. Which means less labor on this task, and overall savings (or, realistically, being able to assign that labor to other projects).
Three people were named for service awards: Cody Cessna, Pete Henry, and Nikki Vorhees. Sounds like they will all be continuing to serve, which is good to hear, as good workers are hard to find. As an aside, I’m sure I would have spelled those names wrong, but they are conveniently on the Village’s website.
Rick gave his ‘State of the Village’ speech, and as he pointed out, it was good to have everyone in the room together. Overall, the speech felt a bit ‘good job everyone’. Which isn’t criticism, people should be thanked for their hard work. Apart from that, only thing that stood out was that CGI Digital will be producing promotional videos for the Village.
