Mendon Town Board 2022-03-14

The evening of 2022-03-14 was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

The most interesting topic of the evening was probably the discussion around the ambulance. And the contract the Town has with the Village for that service. As everyone tends to mention whenever this comes up, they are happy with the service provided. There are just details around it that are less then ideal.

In this case, the biggest concern seemed to be when other services (Pittsford being mentioned) have to fill in because Honeoye Falls is unavailable. In turn, the cause of this is attributed to Honeoye Falls having to cover Lima. As I’m sure Ed (Chief of Operations) would point out, they have an obligation to do so due to the Certificate of Need (CON). Even so, there was some frustration expressed over this.

On the plus side, it sounds like steps are being taken that should improve the situation in the not to distant future. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. One way or another, I’m sure it will come up again. If only because the annual contract provides a setting to air thoughts, whether good or bad.

A special meeting of this group is being scheduled for March 28. Primary cause appears to be the Splash Park/Military Memorial and related issues. From context I would expect bids to be approved, and a timeline for construction be outlined.

A process for reviewing the Environmental Protection Overlay Districts (EPOD) is being explored. Remains to be seen how this plays out, but I’ve seen a few spots where the EPOD’s don’t quiet line up with the situation on the ground. Always good to have a method to remove restrictions, regardless of how justified they may be.

As usual, payment of vouchers was approved. Nothing new here, but there was a detail that was different. As far as I can tell, this is the first time that I’ve been a line item on the publicly accessible documentation here. In the interests of full disclosure, and as pointed out multiple times before, the Town does pay me for various services. And if you care, you can now track how much.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the March 14, 2022 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
