Honeoye Falls Village Board 2022-02-22

The evening of 2022-02-22 was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

The meeting started at 7PM, and the first public hearing was scheduled at 7:45PM. At which point all other agenda items had been covered. Not sure if that was the plan or not, but it worked out.

That first public hearing was for ‘Adoption of Comprehensive Plan Update’. The update was approved, after going through the SEQR process. While I still think this is never not a form of ‘cruel and unusual punishment‘, they did go through it rather well. Looks like counsel had pre-drafted the relevant documents, thus streamlining the process.

The second public hearing was ‘To Provide a Property Tax Assessment Exemption for Volunteer Firefighters and Volunteer Ambulance Personnel’. While there were questions, and a desire for a more straightforward process, the exemption was approved. Which means, locally, the Village and Town have both approved the exemption, while the School is still considering. For those of you keeping count at home.

A spaghetti dinner to support those recovering from the fire at Seneca Place is being planned. Sounds like it will be 3/31 at the Methodist Church. I expect more details (such as the time) will become available as the date approaches.

Conservation Board Environmental Fair will be Saturday, April 30th at Harry Allen Park. Having gone to these in years past I wouldn’t expect it to be super exciting or such. But if you’re looking for an excuse to go for a walk in the park, and some people to chat with while doing so? At this point, I know I could go for an uneventful walk in the park.

It sounds like mandatory ‘accessory dwelling units’ have been taken out of the State budget. Which makes sense to me from a process standpoint. Already exists in Bill form in both the Assembly and Senate. So the idea won’t be dying without some help.

‘Good Vibes’ concerts being planned for this summer. Dates not shared, but likely Tuesdays. In any case, looks like the Fire Department training grounds on Monroe Street are being looked at as an alternate location should the weather not cooperate. Better to be prepared and not need it.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the February 22, 2022 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
