Tonight (2021-11-15) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
As I was once again managing the recording/streaming, my focus was split for the majority of the meeting. As such, I was not in the audience as usual. Having said that, there were some interesting comments around public hearings. Both the one for tonight, and those scheduled for next meeting.
Tonight’s public hearing was for next year’s Fire Protection contract with the Village of Honeoye Falls. Long story short, everyone seemed to think it was a good idea as things stand. But there were a number of concerns raised (especially by the public) about the future. These concerns were mostly focused on the potential expansion of the facility, and the financial/tax payer impact that could result. Sounds like a good reason to get more information from the Village, perhaps at future Village Trustee meetings.
There was also discussion about Cannabis, and a public hearing was set for next month (December 13). From what was said, it sounds like the Town may be opting out of the State’s marijuana experiment. At least to the extent they can. Nothing firmly said that way, I’m reading between the lines from what members of the public said. We’ll find out in due time.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the November 15, 2021 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

Tonight was also a Village Trustee meeting, but as I continue to be unable to be in two places at once, I was unable to attend both meetings.
