Mendon Town Board 2021-09-27

Tonight (2021-09-27) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

As the meetings primary purpose was to discuss the tentative budget, much of the discussion was around that. Other items did come up, but if you’re meeting anyways might as well take care of business.

As mentioned elsewhere, this budget lowers taxes ~10%. No ‘haircut’ is claimed. From past discussions, it sounds like a long term effort to remove debt is paying off. To paraphrase John (Supervisor), reserves are adequately stocked, more money isn’t needed, so let the tax payers keep it.

I completely understand this is an election year and he is a politician, but I would like it if more elected officials took that stance. Do what needs doing then keep taxes as low as possible, letting the people keep their hard earned money for what they decide is best.

End result of the discussion was a public hearing has been set for the October 18th meeting. Also a public hearing for the Capitol Improvement Plan.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the September 27, 2021 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

Digital copy of the Agenda was not available anywhere I could find. Perhaps it will be on the Town’s website in the future, perhaps not.

In the interests of full disclosure, I continue to provide technical support to this group, and thus wasn’t exactly in the audience. For whatever that is worth…
