Mendon Town Board 2021-05-10

Tonight (2021-05-10) was a meeting of the Mendon Town Board.

As sometimes happens at these meetings, the more interesting items weren’t directly part of the agenda. In tonight’s case it was the discussion during the ‘Communications’ and ‘Public Comment’ items.

At the end of the meeting, a comment was made to encourage the Board to opt-out of marijuana sales in the Town. While there was discussion around the potential financial benefit, I think the comment was well worded. Regardless of marijuana itself, any culture that treats vices as virtues is not long for this world.

The electric vehicle charging station at the Library was down for a bit. No explanation as to the cause, but it is now working again.

While this was the Town Board, the Village Fire Department was discussed. In particular that public announcements of new construction are imminent. I would expect more details at next weeks Village Trustee meeting.

Work will begin on a splash park at the Semmel road park. Sounds like engineering for this stage, not actual construction yet. But this should put them past the considering stage and into the implementation stage.

Memorial Day Parade’s will be happening, unlike last year. At least three different locations were mentioned, but I know there are a number of events that day. While I expect the times would be the same as in the past, worth checking before showing up. I plan to be at the parade in Honeoye Falls, perhaps I’ll see you there.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the May 10, 2021 meeting of the Mendon Town Board.
