Honeoye Falls Village Board 2021-03-15

Tonight (2021-03-15) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.

Everyone was on Zoom for the meeting, and the office was closed and dark. Likely because the meeting room was setup for tomorrow’s election. Or not, who knows.

Perhaps because we were on Zoom, there was a special guest: someone’s daughter. Pretty sure it was one of the Board members, but I don’t know for sure. Either way it was an entertaining addition. As usual, it is the little things that make life worth living.

The Deer Management Committee gave a report on the results of their surveys and then recommended next steps. To summarize, there are three options. We can do nothing, spend alot of money on contraceptives, or allow some sort of hunting. They suggested working towards hunting, although there won’t be immediate action. Have to change the Village Code first, and have at least one informational meeting for the public.

The biggest concern here appears to be fear of hunting within the Village. As someone that grew up on one of them, I can tell you there are a good number of properties within the Village where hunting can safely occur. A map was produced during the presentation that showed the approximate range of a bow, and from that how easy it would be to be well out of range of any residences. Unfortunately, all too often we let fear control our actions.

Wolfsberger park received initial conditional subdivision approval at last weeks Zoning Board meeting. As it was off pattern, I was elsewhere. Regardless, additional approvals will be required before any actual construction can occur.

The Village office is back to full staff and once again open for anyone to walk in. Good for them.

An HFL senior group wants to watch movies in the park, Friday June 11. While they did receive approval, with the conditions applied I think they might have been better off just showing up and doing it. Easier to ask forgiveness then permission.

Work towards the fire department renovation/relocation continues. Tonight they received approval to start looking for bids on the project. Not permission to spend money, but an important step before that happens

The budget workshop for Saturday March 20 will be at 9AM, instead of the 8AM the previous ones have been at. Considering the audience at the previous ones, likely a non-issue for you.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the March 15, 2021 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
