Honeoye Falls Zoning Board 2019-03-04

Tonight (2019-03-04) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.

The topic of the night was the demolition and reconstruction of a barn on Hyde Park. After some discussion, the request was approved.

Marcye Bears, of Bears Playgrounds, was looking to regain usage of a failing barn on Hyde Park. Sounds like she will be using the downstairs for storage and the upstairs for a ‘playroom’.

The only contentious detail was lighting, which brought the neighbors in. Part of the approval was the condition that the final plans needed for a building permit would clearly show the lighting, and if it wasn’t strictly in compliance with the code, she would have to come back for a variance/whatnot. Everyone seemed to like that approach.

After the application was approved, the Board talked among themselves. Mix of procedural questions and when to have their next training. It seems to me they are growing into the merged Board’s function. Haven’t had any truly ‘exciting’ cases yet, which is probably for the best. So far so good with this merged Board experiment, at least from where I’m observing.

There were also some comments about dissatisfaction with the email system. Not the first time I’ve heard this from Village Board members. I might want to ask for more details on this. Maybe I can help them with whatever is causing the trouble. Or maybe not: nothing ventured, nothing gained.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the March 4, 2019 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Zoning Board.

Link to agenda on Village website, for whatever that is worth.
