As usual this time of year, there is an upcoming election. The actual vote will be held Tuesday November 6th, 2018. For those who also live in Honeoye Falls, the polling station is the Mendon Community Center, formerly known as the Legion Hall.
While it’s not a Presidential election, there are contested national offices. What information I have says it’s all elected officials, no other issues to decide. No one is running unopposed this year, which is nice.
At the state level we have Cuomo, Molinaro, Hawkins, Miner, and Sharpe competing for Governor (with their matching Lieutenant Governor’s). DiNapoli, Trichter, Dunlea, and Gallaudet are competing for Comptroller. James, Wofford, Sussman, Sliwa, and Garvey are competing for Attorney General. Lunsford and Funke are competing for State Senator. Baer, Byrnes, and Errigo are competing for State Assembly.
For Judges we have two cases of ‘pick two of four’. Ciaccio, Taddeo, Gallaher, and Argento competing for State Supreme Court Justice. Reid, Mazzo, Shepard, and Bayly competing for Family Court Judge.
At the federal level we have Gillibrand and Farley competing for Senator. McMurray, Collins, and Piegza are competing for Representative in Congress
Bit of a shame we have ‘first past the post‘ voting, otherwise the Governor could be an interesting race. Instead, despite their being ten parties, it’s really Cuomo vs Molinaro. Will be interesting to see how the other candidates pull votes around.
Considering the positions up for election, I’ve received surprisingly few fliers this year. And of those I have, none show party affiliation, which is interesting on it’s own. Although, considering that I encountered a YouTube add for one of these candidates while finding the above video, it may explain why there aren’t more fliers.
And those are my opinions on this upcoming election. Agree or disagree, you’ve got a week to figure out your stance on the issues.
