Tonight (2017-07-17) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
Also tonight was a Mendon Town Board meeting, but as I can only be in one place at a time, I went to the Village meeting. Mostly because they were on schedule and hadn’t skipped a week.
This meeting was a bit different in that Rick (Mayor) covered many of the agenda items under his report. So when we got to those items they were already discussed. Led to a chuckle and moving on. It’s the little things in life.
As always, Ambulance and how that interacts with the Town of Mendon was discussed. Considering some of the tension that has come up over the years, this was a rather upbeat and happy outlook. Can’t point to any particular item, just a general sense of things. Also as always, with life there is hope.
The state mandated shared services program was discussed. What I found ironic was the idea that we could ‘Innovate on Demand’. If it was that simple, it would already be done. Still, the Village is working on documenting all their shared services to make the State happy.
A number of good things were said about the Tuesday night concert program (Good Vibes?). What struck me was the similarities to another program that came up during a Tactical Urbanism presentation a few years back. The first part of which can be viewed on the Village website. Is interesting how things play out overtime.
A reminder for the upcoming Fire Department meeting was made. Saturday August 5th, 8AM. It was pointed out that while it is an open meeting, it is not for public comment. The intent is for the village board to become better informed about the operations of the Fire Department. Rick made a point of making sure everyone in the room knew that. While I understand his point, I’ve been to enough of these things to know that comments can be worked in. Just have to take care in how you do it. If you are helpful and aren’t abusive, alot of rules just seem to become someone else’s problem.
While I’m sure the order of those items was all wrong, all of that (and more) was in the Mayor’s Report. Which was followed by 4 “No Report”, so I guess it balances out.
The logistics of converting Hyde Park to one way are being worked out. In particular, how to prevent people from driving down the wrong way at the north end. I have a feeling the temporary park unit will find itself redeployed to the road for a time. Hopefully no one will crash into anything while we get used to the new driving patterns.
And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the July 17th, 2017 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Board of Trustees.
