Honeoye Falls Planning Board 2017-05-01

Tonight (2017-05-01) was a meeting of the Honeoye Falls Planning Board.

Relatively straightforward meeting. Three applicants, three approvals, back home in under half an hour.

As often happens before meetings, a sign-in sheet was being passed around. This time it caused some confusion. One of the applicants read down the list of names above them and thought I was someone else. This led to an interesting conversation. One of the benefits of a small town, I knew who I was mistaken for. So it was quickly corrected, without any trouble. Made for a memorable way to meet someone new.

First up was a former mayor. She currently owns a house in the village, just around the corner from another house she is purchasing. She was before the board to get approval for an additional at the new house. It was unclear to me if she was moving, or just wanted to own more property. It was amusing looking at the picture of her on the wall as she was getting approved. She clearly knew how the process went.

Next up was a new house on High Street, address between 1 and 11. As the house doesn’t exist, and the lot was part of another house not that long ago, there is no address for the property. I’m sure that will get fixed shortly. In any case, seemed like a nice couple, building a new house to live out the remainder of their days.

Finally was a house who’s former owner I had done a fair sized amount of work for. The new owners are in the process of renovating, and needed approval for expanding the bedroom. Can’t say I blame them, it was on the small side. There was also discussion about flooding, and how to prevent it. Always better to catch that sort of thing up front, before it’s a disaster.

All in all, three quick approvals for three straightforward applicants. I hope it all goes well for the respective projects.

And those are my Observations From Audience Land for the May 1st, 2017 meeting of the Honeoye Falls Planning Board.
